چکیده

A new method of image segmentation based on building up a hierarchical tree through non-linear scale-space is proposed. Non-linear scale space creates from the original image the whole family of blurred images but keeps sharp region boundaries. This characteristic of preserving edges turns out to be extremely useful in choosing a linking strategy through scale. Segmentation is realized in two stages. First, the set of blurred images of the scale-space are split into a number of spatial regions composed of pixels with similar intensity levels. Second, a parent-child linking between the regions of successive layers is performed based on tracking level sets through scale. Such process will generate a scale-space hierarchical tree that induces a segmentation without a priori knowledge. Experimental results based on natural images with respect to the hierarchy and segmentation are given. Keywords— Scale-Space, PDE , unsupervised segmentation, edge detection, hierarchical tree.

Segmentation of Natural Images Using Scale-Space Representation with Multi-Scale Edge Supervised Hierarchical Linking

Abstract— In general purpose computer vision systems, non-supervised image analysis is mandatory in order to achieve an automatic operation. In this paper a different approach to image segmentation for natural scenes is presented. Scale-Space representation is used to extract the structure from meaningful objects in the image. A hierarchical decomposition of the image is performed from the iso-...

Multi{Scale Segmentation of Grey{Scale Images

The topic of this thesis is segmentation of grey{scale images by accessing and relating the structures of the image for all reasonable scales. Grey{scale images are regarded as physical measurements obtained by an ensemble of detectors with nite aperture and nite readout precision. Based on this point of view, the notion of image is established using linear Gaussian scale space and Morse theory...

Segmentation Improvement of High Resolution Remote Sensing Images based on superpixels using Edge-based SLIC algorithm (E-SLIC)

The segmentation of high resolution remote sensing images is one of the most important analyses that play a significant role in the maximal and exact extraction of information.  There are different types of segmentation methods among which using  superpixels is one of the most important ones. Several methods have been proposed for extracting superpixels. Among the most successful ones, we can r...

A multi-scale convolutional neural network for automatic cloud and cloud shadow detection from Gaofen-1 images

The reconstruction of the information contaminated by cloud and cloud shadow is an important step in pre-processing of high-resolution satellite images. The cloud and cloud shadow automatic segmentation could be the first step in the process of reconstructing the information contaminated by cloud and cloud shadow. This stage is a remarkable challenge due to the relatively inefficient performanc...
